                                                         History

First chartered by the American Red Cross on July 1, 1990 after
the San Bernardino County Chapter split into four chartered
chapters.  Prior to the 1992 earthquake, our records storage
was located in a bath tub at the United Way Office in Joshua
Tree.

In 1992, the 7.4 Landers/Big Bear earthquake hit.  Seven
volunteers served non-stop for 31 days.  After the earthquake,
the community realized the importance of the Morongo Basin
Chapter.  We were located in a couple of offices that were
donated to us until we located in Joshua Tree.

As of 2009 we are located in our new offices in Yucca Velley at
the Monterey Business Center where we continue to serve the
residents of the Morongo Basin.
