Today's   American  Red  Cross  is  keeping  pace  with  the   changing   military.     Using  the  latest  in  computer  
and telecommunications technology,  the  Red  Cross  sends communications  on behalf  of  family  members  who
are facing emergencies  or  other  important  events  to  members  of  the  U.S.  Armed  Forces  serving all  over  
the  world.  These communications are delivered around-the-clock, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

While providing services to 1.4 million active duty personnel and their families, the Red Cross also reaches out to
more than 800,000  members  of  the  National  Guard  and the Reserves  and their families  who  reside in nearly
every community in America.

                 How to Contact the Red Cross to Send an Emergency Message

Active military service members and their immediate family members living aboard the 29 Palms Marine
Base (MCAGCC) may call the Red Cross for help 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Base
Red Cross Station's phone number during business hours is (760) 830-6685.  For after hours help, call 1-877-
272-7337.

Family members of active military service members, who reside off base, may access Red Cross services by
calling their Morongo Basin Chapter.  The toll-free telephone is 1-800-696-3873.

When  calling  the  Red  Cross  to  send  an  emergency  message to a family  member,  please have the following
information available before you call.

                                                         Emergency Financial Assistance

The Red Cross works with the military aid societies (Army Emergency Relief, Navy Marine Corps Relief Society, Air Force  Aid  Society  and the Coast  Guard  Mutual  Assistance).   This partnership  helps  to  provide  financial
assistance for emergency travel that requires the presence of the service member or his or her family, burial of a
loved one, or with assistance that cannot wait until the next business day (food, temporary lodging, urgent medical
needs, or the minimum amount required to avoid eviction, utility shut off, etc.).
